When I was 13, I discovered Photoshop and was amazed at how I was able to create art with a computer. My first projects in Photoshop were photo manipulations (combining multiple images to create a new one). After becoming comfortable with these, I moved on to digital paintings. But of course, I wanted to expand my horizons even more!
At the age of 18, I decided to try my hand at photography. At first I shot with an old Olympus 35mm film camera that I taught myself to use. There were many times that I paid for film to be developed, only to find that the pictures were blurry or exposed incorrectly. Though this was a hard lesson that cost me a pretty penny, it taught me to take my time with my work. After a year or so of shooting with the Olympus, I decided that a DSLR would be more practical. I switched to a Canon Rebel T1i and have since then invested in a Nikon D5100 (which is amazing).
Now I am 22 years old and am currently focusing on portraiture and conceptual photography. I graduated from Duquesne University in 2013 with a BA in Digital Media Art and a double minor in Studio Art and Art History. Having an interest in so many different areas of art has been great for my creativity. My main influences for photography are Lara Jade, Kyle Thompson, and Brooke Shaden.
